Peter Goldson holds an L.L.B. (Hons.) degree from the University of the West Indies which he attended as a University (Open) Scholar and from which he graduated in 1984, and a post-graduate B.C.L. degree from St. John's College, University of Oxford, which he attended as the Rhodes Scholar for Jamaica for 1985. Peter's practice includes Corporate Financing; Mergers and Acquisitions; Hotel Development; Pensions; Aviation Law; Intellectual Property; Banking Regulatory; Commercial Litigation and Renewable Energy.
Peter is Head of the firm's Commercial Department and of the Pensions Practice Group and is the immediate past Chairman of the Jamaican Bar Association's Intellectual Property Committee. He is regarded as one of Jamaica's leading Pensions and Intellectual Property law experts. In his intellectual property practice, he has represented major US and international corporations in trade mark prosecution and infringement litigation.
Peter has represented international and local financiers in major lending transactions and in corporate acquisition and restructuring. He is the Chairman of the Companies Office Management Advisory Board, a Director of Kingston Restoration Company Limited, Chairman of the Coffee Industry Board (2007) Pension Plan and a trustee of the Hillel Academy Pension Plan. Peter is also Chairman of the Urban Development Corporation's Tax Incentive Recommendation Committee.
Peter is presently a Lecturer and Course Director for Intellectual Property Law in the LLM programme at the University of the West Indies, Mona and is the Jamaica and Caribbean Secretary to the Rhodes Trust and Secretary to the Rhodes Selection Committee.
