Hon. Patrick Rousseau is one of Jamaica's preeminent attorneys. An outstanding corporate lawyer, he is active in the Jamaican business community and has a particularly well-deserved reputation as an adept business negotiator and deal maker. He has had a distinguished career in law, business and public service and has extensive links throughout the English speaking Caribbean and has undertaken major legal matters in Barbados, St.Lucia, the Bahamas, Cayman Islands and Trinidad & Tobago.
Admitted to practice in Jamaica in 1957 and as a solicitor in the United Kingdom in 1962, Mr. Rousseau is an in office consultant in the Commercial Department. He has extensive experience in the practice of corporate financing, mining and entertainment and sports law. He has represented several major international and local companies and, in his entertainment practice, major international recording and publishing companies as well as a number of producers, recording artistes and songwriters. Mr. Rousseau has also represented international sportsmen. His wide ranging experience also includes Theatre and the Film Industry in which he has represented financiers, producers, directors and actors.
Mr. Rousseau is the Chairman of two companies listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, and serves as a director of a number of other companies. He was also recently appointed as the Chairman of Caymanas Track Limited. He has served a number of voluntary organizations as patron, chairman and board member. He is also the former President of the West Indies Cricket Board. Mr. Rousseau served as Ambassador Special Missions between 1975 and 1978, and is a former lead negotiator for the Jamaica Bauxite Commission. He was conferred with the Order of Jamaica in 1976.
